“Illinois could become the first state to restore voting rights to people while they serve a felony sentence.

“Oregon tried to pass a similar bill this year, but it failed.

“‘Voting plays a major role in policies that govern the spaces that so many people are condemned to exist in,’ said Renaldo Hudson, who was convicted of murder and now advocates for voting rights.”
