Teaching Framework: The Journal of Cinema and Media

Editors: Drake Stutesman and Susan Potter

The editors invite individual or collaborative reflections on teaching FRAMEWORK: The Journal of Cinema and Media essays and other works published in the journal since 1974.

FRAMEWORK issues 1 through 64.2 are available on the links bellow

We are interested in proposals from scholars, teachers, artists, archivists, film/TV/video/media-makers, curatos, and other friends of FRAMEWORK: The Journal of Cinema and Media that reflect on teaching a range of types of works. These can be:

  • written essays

  • audiovisual essays

  • archival materials

  • reviews

  • interviews

  • art projects

  • or any other piece that you have used

We encourage submitters to offer individual and/or collaborative reflections (perhaps with other colleagues or students) on why a work might be “teachable” (or not). How have you taught this work? What qualities of a particular work are you drawn to? Do you have a passage that you return to over time? How have students engaged with the work? What has emerged through their engagements or struggles or discomforts? — Or another response or topic/question not listed here.
